Welcome to our online home! And don't
forget to check out our Facebook page.
are we? We are
Morris side based in Cardiff, South Wales; we first danced in public in
1973 and were founder members of the Morris Federation. We
celebrated our 40th birthday in 2013, but due to declining numbers have
decided that 2015 will be our final year of dancing. As founder members
of the then Women's Morris Federation we are pleased to have continued
our existence long enough to celebrate their 40th Anniversary too!
Our Llareggub tradition was created by
Cardiff Ladies and has solely been danced by us. The name is taken from
Thomas's famous play Under Milk Wood: we don't take ourselves too
seriously - read Llareggub backwards! Other dances in our repertoire
originated from the Cotswolds and the Welsh Borders.
We have had a variety of musicians (male and female) who
play various types of squeezebox, the fiddle, penny whistle, drum,
ukelele, mouth organ,
tambourine, bodhran and even the Welsh bagpipes. Anything
acoustic and portable!
There are several other Morris groups in the area who are
still recruiting, please check out our links page.
Help! If you have any
information, reminiscences, old copies of the Calamo newsletter, etc
which you would like to share with us please get in touch with the Secretary: we
would really like this website to contain as much about the side as
